Summary:
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for the accounting functions relating to month-end close and management reporting for the Company's insurance carriers and related subsidiaries.
Essential Functions:
Perform general ledger accounting for insurance agency and insurance companies.
Assist in the monthly financial close including preparing, reviewing and/or interpreting financial data to determine reasonableness and accuracy of information and reports. Provide relevant financial analyses as needed.
Assist in preparation of SEC and insurance regulatory reports.
Prepare audit schedules and assist in the preparation of audited financial statements.
Reconcile and balance subsidiary ledgers to general ledger for assigned accounts.

Responsibilities:
Perform special projects as assigned
Develop working relationships with internal and external customers
Develop working knowledge of insurance accounting and financial reporting
Handle all inquiries in a timely manner and research problems as required.
Qualifications
Experience/Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred
1 to 3 years of accounting experience preferred
Knowledge:
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Products including but not limited to Excel
Knowledge of accounting software applications
Knowledge of general accounting principles
Skills/Abilities:
Good attention to detail
Good decision making and judgement skills
Good organization and time management skills
Strong commitment to task assigned
WORK CONDITIONS:
May be required to sit for extended periods of time
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
