Under the direction of the HCM General Manager the Sales Representative will be responsible for the successful marketing of ready mix products to the Heavy Highway (DOT), Civil and Municipal markets while completing and fulfilling the sales cycle through actual product sales. This position will coordinate with the commercial and residential sales teams, quality control, customer service, dispatch, credit and other functions to achieve district goals.
Solicit sales of ready mix concrete in the designated market area to targeted accounts
Strive to achieve maximum selling price at volume goals
Develop strong relationships with customers
Make daily sales calls to current and potential customers of Martin Marietta and maintain adequate sales call records
Maintain backlogs of sold and lost jobs
Develop sales plan and be held accountable for the success
Become knowledgeable of inbound and outbound R/M logistics processes as well as the production and scheduling processes so as to support service efforts
Communicate with operations, distribution, management, credit or any other group in Martin Marietta to coordinate orders and delivery to optimize the utilization of equipment and people
Understand Martin Marietta capabilities, costs and goals to achieve desired results
Become knowledgeable of Martin Marietta products
Understand, adhere to and support Martin Marietta's safety rules and culture
Minimum three years construction sales experience preferred
College degree, or equivalent, in related field(s) preferred
Position requires time in the field as well as in the office to achieve desired results
Be able to work on problem prevention/solving related to service, quality and safety
Have a reputation as a self starter and be able to work with little supervision
Have the ability to effectively multi-task when necessary
Be able to interact positively with co-workers (team player)
Understand the DOT bidding process and do quantity take-offs
Working knowledge of ACI, ASTM, TxDOT and applicable municipal standards and specifications
Physical Requirements:
Ability to drive a motor vehicle and meet insurance requirements, (MVR)
Exercise proper independent decision making, prioritize conflicting demands, and communicate with multiple associates
Must be able to read, write and perform math necessary to fulfill job requirements
Work outside on uneven terrain in all weather conditions
Climb, stoop, crawl, reach, bend, and kneel as required to fulfill job requirements
Ability to lift weights necessary to fulfill job requirements

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
