Primary
Responsibilities:
Medical Coding and Billing:
Review clinical notes, diagnostic results, and other patient documentation to determine appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for billing.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of medical claims to insurance companies.
Handle denials, rejections, and appeals in a timely manner to maximize revenue.
Stay updated with the latest changes in coding guidelines, payer policies, and industry standards.
Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate coding and billing - Assign appropriate ICD-10, DRG, and other coding classifications to medical procedures and diagnoses - Verify patient insurance coverage and process claims for reimbursement - Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve billing discrepancies - Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations - Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation for billing purposes - Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and regulations Ambulatory Surgery Center Coding:
Accurately code encounters for procedures performed in our ambulatory surgery center.
Collaborate with the clinical team to obtain necessary documentation for accurate coding.
OBGYN and Fertility Coding:
Leverage specialized knowledge in OBGYN and fertility coding to ensure accurate representation of services rendered.
Assist in audit processes by providing documentation and explanation for coding decisions.
Communication and Collaboration:
Liaise when needed with insurance companies, patients, and our internal team to resolve billing issues.
Educate and train clinical staff on documentation best practices to ensure clean claims.
Reporting and Documentation:
Regularly monitor and report on billing and coding metrics.
Maintain secure, accurate, and up-to-date patient billing records.
Qualifications:
Certification as a Medical Coder from an accredited institution.
Proven experience in medical billing and coding.
Prior experience with OBGYN and/or fertility coding will be a significant asset.
Familiarity with medical software and electronic health records.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
